Aberration - in fiber optics, there may be defects in a lens system that distorts the image from rules of paraxial imagery. In general, aberrations are deviations from what is normal, natural or correct.
Abrasion Mark - any dig, scratch or mark on an optical surface caused by friction in polishing, mishandling or environmental factors.
Absorbtion - portion of fiber optic attenuation resulting from the conversion of optical power to heat.
Access Network - part of the telecommunication network that connects to individual and corporate users.
Duplex - the operation of a circuit in both directions is known as a full duplex in data communications and if only one transmitter can send at a time it is called a half duplex.
Fiber Optics - the overlap of applied science and engineering concerned with design and application of optical fibers. An optical fiber is a glass or plastic fiber that carries light along its length. This allows data transmission to occur over longer distances and at higher bandwidths than other forms of communication.
Fiber Optic Communication - optical fiber can be used as a medium for telecommunication and networking because it is flexible and can be bundled as cables. Fiber Optics are especially good for data communication because light propagates through the fiber with little attenuation compared to electrical cables.
Fiber Optic Adapter - typical use is to provide a cable to cable connection. Also known as mating sleeves or hybrid sleeves. Mating sleeves are adapters that connect the same type of fiber and hybrid sleeves are adapters that connect different types of fiber. We carry LC Singlemode Adapters, LC Multimode Adapters, SC Singlemode Adapters and SC Multimode Adapters. All of our adapters are available in simplex and duplex configurations.
Fiber Optic Connector - an important component used in the fiber optic network and a key part to a fiber optic patch cord and fiber optic pigtail. We carry LC Singlemode Connectors, LC Multimode Connectors, SC Singlemode Connectors and SC Multimode Connectors. All of our connectors are available in simplex and duplex configurations.
Fiber Optic Patch Cord - a key component used to link equipment and components in a fiber optic network. There are generally two main types of patch cords: singlemode and multimode. Singlemode fiber optic patch cords are usually wrapped in a yellow yacket. Multimode fiber optic patch cords are usually wrapped in a orange jacket. We carry LC-LC singlemode fiber optic patch cords in both simplex and duplex configurations, SC-SC singlemode fiber optic patch cords in both simplex and duplex configurations, as well as LC-LC multimode duplex fiber optic patch cords and SC-SC multimode duplex fiber optic patch cords.
Fiber Optic Patch Panel - this is an integrated unit for fiber management, which is essential for any type of fiber optic network. They have a universal design to create a mix-and-match concept with various parts from other manufacturers as well as older equipment. These patch panels house and manage patch cords as well as protect them. We offer wall mount patch panels, rack mount patch panels, patch and splice panels and sliding racks.
Fiber Optic Products - products that are essential for a fiber optic network. These components include fiber optic patch cords, fiber optic patch panels, fiber optic connectors and fiber optic adapters.
LC Fiber Optic Patch Cord - a popular style patch cord due to its compact size and easy-to-use push and lock design. It comes equipped with a plastic housing and an accurate 1.25mm ferrule.
Multimode - optical fiber used mostly for communication over shorter distances. Because of the high capacity and reliability, multimode fiber is generally used for backbone applications in buildings and on campuses.
Patch and Splice Panel - this unit is vendor friendly for mix-and-match applications and uses minimum rack space. The patch and splice panel is available with the 900um color coded pigtails running directly from the patch panel into each splice tray.
Rack Mount Patch Panel - capable of handling up to 288 fibers with duplex adapters. It accepts all standard connector and cable types and works with existing equpment from other manufacturers. The rack mount patch panel fits the standard 19" and 23" frames and uses minimum rack space.
REACH Compliant - in order to be REACH compliant you must register your substances, comply with safe usage conditions specified by permits granted for products and imported substances and be registered for how your products are used throughout your supply chain.
RoHS Compliant - in order to be RoHS compliant you must follow the RoHS Directive, which is a list of restrictive substances. The list includes lead, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmium, PBB and PBDE.
SC Fiber Optic Patch Cord - this style patch cord is widely used due to its durability, low cost and simplicity. It comes equipped with an easy-to-use push and lock mechanism.
Simplex - consists of a single fiber and only requires one-way data transmissions. Available in singlemode and multimode.
Singlemode - an optical fiber designed to only carry a single ray of light. Single mode fibers can have a higher bandwidth because they are better at retaining the fidelity of each light pulse over long distances than multimode.
Sliding Rack - this unit is a great choice for applications in need of an extremely compact and easy-to-use design. The panel can be installed in either a 19" or 23" rack and only uses 1.75" of rack space. The sliding rack accomodates up to 24 connections and securely fastened patch cords can exit to the left or right.
Wall Mount Patch Panel - this is a high density, compact and uncrowded unit that is available with pre-connectorized cable stubs and pigtails for in-unit splicing. The wall mount patch panel comes equipped with a removeable back plate, which allows you to place the patch panel on a table for maintanence, which promotes safey, saves space and cost as well.
